Gold Award for Best Road Trip Podcast!
When Her Magic Mushroom Memoir first launched, we hoped listeners would feel like they were stepping into a world of mystery, science, and adventure. Now, that dream has come full circle — the podcast has just been awarded GOLD for Best Road Trip Podcast at the 4th Annual Signal Awards!
It’s a moment that feels surreal — like cresting a hill on a long, winding drive and suddenly seeing the view unfold.
The Journey That Started It All
From the very beginning, Her Magic Mushroom Memoir was an experiment in storytelling — a “novel-to-podcast” experience that fuses history, imagination, and sound design. Written by John Wasson and Darren Hackett, produced by Serena Travis of Divine Sign Productions, and brought to life by the award-winning voice of Melissa Disney (As Told by Ginger), this series invites listeners into a story that’s as much about discovery as it is about transformation.
Every episode traces the path of Dr. Lidiya Hart Johnson and her reluctant biographer Chris Wade, uncovering secrets hidden in the archives of science, faith, and human curiosity.
It’s not just a road trip — it’s a journey through consciousness itself.
About the Signal Awards
The Signal Awards recognize podcasts that push boundaries and shape culture. Winners are chosen by an impressive Judging Academy that includes creators like Jay Shetty (On Purpose), Latif Nasser (Radiolab), and Dan Taberski (Hysterical), along with leaders from Sony Music, Pushkin Industries, and Condé Nast.
This year, more than 127,000 listeners cast 385,000 votes from all over the world — nearly double last year’s participation. The result? A celebration of storytelling that connects us all, no matter where the road leads.
A Word from the Signal Awards Team
“Her Magic Mushroom Memoir made an impression on the Judging Academy,” said Jemma Brown, General Manager of The Signal Awards. “This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”
